What Does Your Representative Stand For?
Living Wages. I will do every thing I can to make sure people have jobs with living wages and reasonable benefits. Workers who are working two jobs shouldn't have to turn to PeachCare to get medical care for their children.
Ending Outsourcing. We need to stop exporting American jobs. I support legislation that would prohibit state agencies contracting state contracts outside the United States .
Health Care Reform.
Health Insurance for all children
Affordable, accessible health care for all
Medicare drug coverage for every senior citizen
No child should be without health insurance coverage. Employers should be encouraged to provide health benefits rather than shifting the burden from the corporation to the taxpayer. But if employers don't provide healthcare for children, we should come together to provide the care Georgia 's children need. We need to protect and build on PeachCare. It was wrong to cut child health care funding last legislative term and it should not even be considered as an option this session.
The state should be directed to use the purchasing power of the State Government to negotiate lower prescription drug costs.
I support a Georgia Family Medical Leave Act that will include ALL Georgians.
A Better Educational Environment. I support legislation that requires employers to allow parents up to 8 hours of unpaid leave each year to attend activities at their children's schools. We need to maintain the Hope Scholarship for all families and expand the program to include post high school vocational training and job retraining for adults.
Improve retirement benefits – to give ALL public school employees the option to join the TRS
Improve student achievement
Class size reduction
Clerical support for teachers & paraprofessionals for students
Decrease the drop out rate
School prevention programs (physical/verbal assault in schools)
A clean and healthy environment.
Tougher laws for drunk drivers. |
